Convenience StoreCharleston, SCThe Parker Companies

In April 2020, The Parker Company officially expanded its award-winning chain of convenience stores and gas stations into Charleston proper with the opening of Store 79 on Sam Rittenberg Blvd. Like the 65 stores that came before it, the goal of the design was to construct an upscale, comfortable, and sparkling clean atmosphere that created an inviting “3rd Space” for its guests. With a 2nd Charleston location opening just a few weeks later, the expansion into the city offers great access to the densely populated, and previously underserved, community.

Aesthetically, the Sam Rittenberg location stands out with its parged brick finish and unique canopy design. It is also the first Parker’s location to offer enhanced in-store dining for its patrons. With durability and cleanliness being so important for this high-traffic destination, the Veneziano Collection from Garden State Tile was selected for its fresh graphics, ability to hide dirt/debris, and the permanence of the porcelain.

24”x24” White Terrazzo Porcelain in Matte Finish from the Veneziano Collection were installed on the floors of the store as a beautiful and functional solution for the heavy commercial application. 12”x24” Almond Terrazzo Porcelain in Matte finish was used a decorative border surrounding the dining area for a cohesive, yet attention grabbing, design.

Manufactured in Italy using a variety of innovative technological processes, the Veneziano through-body porcelain collection celebrates the spirit of hand-crafted terrazzo floors. Advanced digital printing technology closely mimics the graphics of authentic terrazzo with a range of ninety different particles inspired by the reference of tradition.
